Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from an ethnically Jewish origin. Ryder is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Her older brother is Uria. Ryder along with her whole family moved to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was seven. The family was in a house that didn't have electricity. The books on television were the only way for Ryder for her time, and she was a voracious reader. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12, at the American Conservatory Theatre. Her first role was a success on the large screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. old. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Her professional acting, she believed that it would aid her. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. However, she kept working towards her dreams. In 1988, she received her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful parts in a variety of films.
