Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12, at the American Conservatory Theatre. Her first role was a success on the large screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. old.
